Improvements

• An entry logged from a recipe now shows the total amount under its name, split by unit, so a soup reads as 271 g and 415 ml without adding up its parts by eye.

Fixes

• On iPhone, with KIkal launched from the home screen, scrolled content ran into the status bar and covered the clock and battery. Content now stays below it and fades out softly at the top edge.

Fixes

• If the assistant went silent after asking you something, and "Try again" never helped either, that question was the cause: writing your own answer instead of tapping one of the offered options left the thread stuck for good. Fixed, affected threads work again.

Features

• KIkal knows which way your goal points. If you are building up, a surplus reads as progress rather than a slip, and the assistant no longer nudges you to cut back by default.
• Reach your goal weight and the app says so, then asks how to go on: hold this weight, or set a new goal. Either way your targets are recomputed and offered as a card to confirm.
• Your targets belong to one calculation and are set through the chat instead of one field at a time. The settings show them, including the direction.
• The details behind that calculation (sex, age, height, activity) are kept, so a later recomputation does not ask again. You can delete them in the settings whenever you like.
• The assistant works out what you burn from your own logged data instead of your tracker's estimate, which lands the numbers much closer to reality.

Fixes

• Correcting a single detail in the chat ("I am 183, not 163") now shows a card with exactly that value on it, instead of a card full of targets that were not changing.
• Older days are judged by the targets that applied back then, not by the ones you have today: change your goal and yesterday stays as green or red as it was. The day a target changed says what changed.

• Improvements and stability.

Features

• Connecting an AI assistant is explained now, in the settings and on its own page: the server address to copy, the command for Claude Code, and the sign-in that needs no key.
• API keys for clients that cannot sign in through the browser can be created and revoked in the settings.

Fixes

• The setup conversation is kept. Reload the page, close the tab or sign out in the middle of it, and you come back to where you left off instead of starting over.

• Start a chat somewhere else, on your phone or through a connected assistant, and the chat you have open tells you that another one is running. One tap switches to it.

• When several of your products match what you wrote, the assistant offers them as buttons to tap instead of listing them in a sentence.
• Dictated or hastily typed food names are matched against your own products instead of being handed back with a question.

• Ask how much protein is still missing on a day where you already reached your target, and the assistant now simply says nothing is missing and by how much you passed it. It used to name a figure that contradicted its own next sentence.
• Ask for an estimate and you get a card to confirm, instead of numbers in a paragraph that log nothing.
• Adding to a day note keeps the text that was already there instead of overwriting it.
• Name several things at once, say a recipe plus an extra portion plus something eaten on the way, and each one gets its own card.

• The AI answers noticeably faster. An ordinary turn is usually done in one to three seconds instead of keeping you waiting.
• KIkal now has terms of use. They state plainly what the app is and what it is not: every nutritional value is an estimate, and KIkal replaces no medical or dietary professional.
• Registration now asks you to confirm the terms of use and the privacy policy with a checkbox, both linked right beside it.

Fixes

• The privacy policy now names the AI providers in use along with where they are based, and links to their own privacy pages.
• On the legal pages the text sat indented beside the title instead of below it. Title and text share one left edge again.

• On phones and tablets, opening a dialog no longer puts the caret in a text field, so the on-screen keyboard stops covering the very list or thread you just opened. Tapping the field still works as before, and on a computer everything keeps its automatic focus.

Features

• Your usual entries are now one tap away: the app looks at what you logged around this time of day and offers it as chips, in the entry list and in the chat.
• A chip fills in the typical portion for you and waits for your confirmation, so nothing is logged by accident.
• Products, recipes and quick logs all show up there, and everything you already logged in this part of the day drops out on its own.
• The full list sits behind one button, with a search that also finds an entry from a few letters in the middle of its name.

• The chat history button now shows up right after your first message instead of only after a reload.

Features

• Assistants connected over MCP can now ask for your own products only, or for the reference catalog only, instead of always getting both mixed together.

• Products can carry extra names you search them by. A product stored as "Aroserli classic" is found by "Salamistangen" or "Wurstsnack", and the same typo and umlaut tolerance applies as for the name itself.
• The product dialog has a field for those names: type one, press Enter or comma, remove it with a click. The catalog list shows them under each product, so you can see why a search found it.
• The assistant suggests such names when it creates a product for you, on the card you confirm, and it can add or remove single ones later when you ask.
• Everything is available through the API and MCP too, so other assistants can add, remove or replace the names.

Features

• The portion fields in the recipe logging dialog take the full width, and the unit sits in the same g/ml control the entry form uses, locked to the product's unit.
• The chat cost dialog updates while it is open: a turn still running behind it moves tokens and cost instead of leaving a frozen snapshot.

Fixes

• The assistant no longer writes notes to itself next to a food card. Such a line is now recognised by what it talks about, naming its own tools, rather than by the exact wording it happened to use, so new phrasings are caught too.
• The chat cost dialog shows the number of requests again instead of a permanent zero, and it no longer offers a Cancel button next to Close.

Features

• The producer or brand of a food now looks the same everywhere: a small line under its name. It used to appear in brackets behind the name in some places, as a coloured line in others, and mixed into the portion line in the day list.
• Entry names are the food again. "Latte Macchiato (Emmi)" becomes "Latte Macchiato" with "Emmi" underneath, in the chat cards, the day list, the catalog, the product picker and the recipe dialogs.
• Existing entries are cleaned up with the update. Only a bracket that exactly matches the product's producer is removed, so a name you typed yourself, like "Fu Ji (Winterthur)", stays as it is.
• The entry form keeps showing the producer after you pick a product, and the recipe logging dialog shows it per ingredient.

Fixes

• The assistant no longer writes notes to itself next to a food card, like a bracketed line explaining that it is staying silent. Those lines never reach the chat now.

Features

• Asking the assistant to add something to a day's note now keeps what is already there. Until now the new text replaced the old one, and whatever you had written that day was gone.
• A note is only overwritten when you ask for it. The card then shows the text it replaces, so you see what confirming throws away.
• Notes are written as short diary lines instead of your sentence copied word for word, with the typos fixed: "Fitness, evening nothing eaten" rather than "was at the gym today and did not eat anything in the evening".
• The day tile keeps the line breaks of a note, so several entries on one day stay readable instead of running into a single line.

Fixes

• Undoing a note no longer takes that day's weight and burned kcal with it. Undo now only touches what the card actually wrote.

Features

• The assistant remembers lasting facts about you across conversations: that you avoid pork, do not tolerate gluten, or train on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A new chat starts knowing them instead of asking again.
• It writes those notes itself as you mention things, corrects them when a fact changes, and drops them when you say so. Only food, health, training and how you want to be coached are kept.
• Settings has a Memory section: see everything that is stored, edit it, delete single notes, or add your own.
• Memory can be switched off entirely. Off means nothing new is stored and nothing stored is used, while your existing notes stay listed until you delete them.
• Connecting an app to your account no longer asks for your password when you are already signed in: you just approve or deny. Signing in on that screen also signs you into KIkal.

Features

• Logging a recipe lets you change the portions for that meal: one field per component, prefilled with the recipe's amounts. The recipe itself stays as it is, only what you ate today changes.
• An image in the chat that can no longer be loaded shows a placeholder instead of a broken frame, so you can see the picture is gone rather than wondering what failed.

Fixes

• Typing a portion in the log dialog no longer breaks it.
• The recipe search is focused when the picker opens, so you can type right away, and closing it after a search no longer asks whether to discard anything.

Features

• Repeating an entry lets you change the portion: one field for a product or quick entry, one per component for a recipe, each prefilled with what you logged. A product is recalculated from its label values, an estimate scales with the portion.
• The repeat dialog says which kind of entry it is about to book, so repeating one component of a recipe no longer looks like it would book the whole meal.

Fixes

• Dialogs behave the same everywhere: Enter confirms, Escape closes, the keyboard stays inside the dialog, and closing one you have edited asks before dropping your input.

Features

• Eating the same thing again takes one tap. Every row in the entries list has a repeat button that shows what would be logged and lets you set the time before it books.
• A repeat copies what you actually ate, not what the product or recipe says today, so an edited recipe never rewrites your history.
• On a recipe the whole meal repeats at once; on a single component only that one, as a standalone entry. That is how a product from a recipe gets eaten on its own.

Fixes

• The assistant no longer tells you what you decided. When it picks an interpretation on its own, it says so in its own words instead of claiming you asked for it.
• A product always appears in its own unit. The same drink could show up as millilitres on one card and grams on another.

Fixes

• When the AI is slow or unreachable, the product dialog says so within seconds and lets you cancel, instead of sitting on a spinner. Photos get a longer budget than text, because reading a label genuinely takes longer.

• Open dialogs stay current: a product logged on your phone can be picked in the entry sheet already open on your desktop, and the recipe picker and shopping archive follow along too.
• Changes that happen while you are offline are no longer lost. When the connection comes back, the app receives exactly what it missed instead of guessing.

Fixes

• Screens that used to keep stale data until you navigated away and back now refresh on their own.
• Naming the parts of one of your recipes now logs that recipe. Writing "30 whey / 269 high prot" no longer produces two loose entries you have to correct by hand.
• On phones every button reacts to the first tap. Icon hints are a desktop thing now, they no longer swallow a tap on touch.

Fixes

• Switching a tab, opening the chat or reloading a page no longer makes your other devices refresh their screens.
• The admin panel keeps the section you picked instead of jumping back after a reload.

• Your view settings follow your account: theme, list filters and the tab you were last on are the same on every device.

• The settings screen now shows a value that changed somewhere else, instead of saving the old one back.

• Remove a weight or a burned-calorie value the way you remove the day note: clear the field and save.

• The chat now answers when you confirm or discard a card. You get one short sentence saying what was saved, instead of silence after the tap.
• A suggestion that comes in two steps now finishes on its own. When a recipe needs an ingredient you do not have yet, confirming that ingredient makes the recipe card appear right away, without you asking again.
• Undo takes the sentence back too. Undo a card and the confirmation line disappears with it, so the chat never claims something is saved when it is not.

Fixes

• Cards stay usable while the assistant answers your decision. Only when the conversation really moves on do they retire, and only then does the card say so.
• The undo button reacts to the mouse like every other button and its label is easier to read.

Fixes

• In the diary, the row your pointer is on now says so, with a subtle tint and an arrow at its end. Inside a recipe, where a card holds the recipe and each of its ingredients, it was not clear which line a click would open.
• Recipe and product cards in chat no longer carry a line like "(recipe suggestion created, awaiting confirmation)" above them. The card speaks for itself.

Features

• Food eaten out can be logged without inventing a product for it. A restaurant dish, a canteen plate or a coffee from a petrol station is a quick entry: it carries its own name, where you had it, and its values count towards the day like everything else, but nothing lands in your product list that you will never eat again.
• When it is not clear how something should be stored, the assistant asks instead of deciding for you. A self-made salad can be a one-off entry, a reusable product or a recipe, and you answer by tapping, going back and forth freely before anything is sent. If none of the options fit, type your own answer.
• An answer you give is followed. Say a meal is a one-off and it stays a one-off, with no product created on the side.
• Entries now say what kind they are, both in the diary and on the cards you confirm in chat: a product entry, a recipe entry or a quick entry, each with a short label you can hover.
• Two unclear foods in one message are asked about one at a time, so both actually get an answer.

Fixes

• The "new day" hint no longer appears every time you open an earlier day. It only shows when a day really turned into yesterday while the app was open.
• Tooltips are back on the icon buttons throughout the app, and they follow the light or dark theme.
• An extra portion of something your recipe already contains is kept as its own entry. Before, it could silently replace the recipe's own row, so food went missing.
• The diary list marks each entry with its kind in front of the name, where a long food name used to push the marker out of sight.

Features

• A reference catalog of around 1,200 everyday foods now ships with the app, taken from the Swiss Food Composition Database of the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office. Calories and protein for common foods come from official values instead of an estimate.
• Catalog foods are found in German, French, Italian and English: "chicken breast", "poitrine de poulet", "petto di pollo" and "Poulet Brust" all lead to the same food, and a German name typed without umlauts still finds it.
• When a food is in no catalog, the chat says so, shows the values it would use and asks whether to take them. Say no and it asks you for the values instead, so nothing is invented behind your back.
• Every product can now be logged with the + button, also those without a standard portion: the dialog asks for the amount.
• The product list shows calories and protein per 100 g for every entry, marks catalog foods, and has quick filters for your own products, catalog foods and products whose values are still missing.

Fixes

• If you already have an account and put your address on the waitlist, you now get a short reminder that the account exists, with a link to sign in and a pointer to the forgot-password link, instead of waiting for an invitation you do not need.
• The waitlist form on the sign-in screen links to the waitlist page, where the whole thing is explained: what happens after you sign up, what we store, and how to get off the list.

Features

• Dark mode is back, and you choose it: Settings now has an Appearance section with System, Light and Dark. System follows your device, and the choice applies to the device you set it on.
• A waitlist while registration is closed. Leave your address on the site or on the sign-in screen, confirm the link in your inbox, and you get exactly one email the day signups open. Nothing else, ever.
• Every waitlist email carries an unsubscribe link, and your mail app's own unsubscribe button works too. Leaving deletes your address, whether you had confirmed it or not.
• Sign in and register are finally telling apart: a tab bar at the top says which one you are on, each has its own heading, and register asks for the password twice.

Fixes

• Switching from sign-in to register no longer keeps showing the sign-in form until you reload the page.
• The offline dot sits at the top right of the content, not far off in the corner of a wide window, and explains what it means when you point at it.

• The day view no longer jumps when you page to a day that is already done: the line under the big number stays, and says the day is complete instead of disappearing.

Features

• Nutrition questions are now answered from KIkal's own reference: calorie and protein targets, activity factors, sensible weight-loss pacing and safe lower limits come from a documented base with named studies instead of general knowledge.
• Sources are clickable: a cited study opens in a new tab, with a note that a reference may not be exact.

• A chat you start on another device or through a connected assistant appears in the open chat while it is being written, instead of dropping in complete at the end.

• The rebuilt interface is now the app itself. Views load faster and keep their state, and dialogs, buttons and forms look and behave the same everywhere.
• Confirming or discarding a proposal card is decided on the server, so a card shows the same state on every device and cannot be double-booked from two places.
• Proposals from the chat are grounded in your real products: what gets logged is linked to an actual entry in your list, not to a name the AI made up.
• Connected assistants can confirm, discard and undo proposal cards themselves, so a chat run from outside the app can finish the job.

Under the hood

• The old interface and everything left over with it are gone, which is what makes the app one code base again.

• Deleting a recipe together with a product it uses now works in one go: both cards appear in a single confirmation batch instead of two separate steps.
• Duplicate recipes are handled smarter: an exact duplicate is refused, while a recipe that shares its name or its exact composition with another one triggers a quick yes/no question. Two coffee drinks with the same milk amount can now coexist on purpose.
• The same protection now applies to products: an identical product cannot be added twice, and a product sharing name and brand with an existing one asks before being created.
• Deleting something ambiguous ("delete the Cappuccino" with two identical entries) now always asks which one you mean instead of silently picking.
• Recipe and product names from voice input are now grounded against your existing data: transcription noise no longer ends up in names, and follow-up corrections go to the stronger AI model automatically.

• A chat turn whose AI response stalls now shows a clear retry option instead of silently ending with an empty answer.
• Mixed deletion batches are labeled clearly: the card header says "Delete" and each row shows whether it is a recipe or a product.

• Connected apps (via MCP) can now ask the server for the current date and time, so "today" always means the same day for you and your assistant, regardless of time zones.
• When logging through a connected app, the date can be omitted and defaults to today.
• Connected apps can now start new chat threads and list existing ones, so conversations begun elsewhere show up right in the app.
• Each day now records when it last changed, letting connected apps detect that earlier readings are outdated instead of working with stale numbers.

• When changing or resetting your password you can now choose to log out on all other devices. By default only your current session stays untouched.
