About
What is KIkal?
KIkal is an AI calorie tracker and protein tracker that runs in the browser. You log food by photo, voice message or text; the AI identifies the food, prefers verified label values per 100 g, and calculates calories and protein against your daily goal. Unlike classic calorie counting apps built around database search, KIkal needs no manual food lookup. It is free to start, hosted in Switzerland, and connects to AI assistants like Claude via a built-in MCP server.
KIkal deliberately does not try to do everything. No meal plans, no social feed, no badges. Just the numbers that actually matter for losing weight, calories and protein, tracked with as little friction as possible. That focus keeps the app small, and it is why we are happy to offer KIkal for free.
Install
Use KIkal like a native app

KIkal then launches full screen from your home screen, like any app.

- Click the install icon in the address bar (or menu > "Install KIkal").
- On macOS Safari: File > "Add to Dock".
KIkal then runs in its own window. Installing is optional; KIkal is designed mobile-first but the browser tab works just as well, on phone and desktop.

How does KIkal know my calorie and protein targets?
