Terms of Use
Last updated: 25 August 2026. These terms govern the use of KIkal. By registering you accept them. How we handle your data is described in the privacy policy.

What KIkal is
KIkal is a tool for logging your own meals, calories and protein. You describe what you ate by text, voice or photo, and the app estimates the nutritional values and compares them against the goals you set yourself.
Estimates, not measurements
Every nutritional value in KIkal is an estimate. That holds even where a number looks exact.
- The AI recognises foods and quantities from what you write or photograph. It can be wrong: about the food, the quantity, the preparation and the nutritional values.
- Values from nutrition databases and product labels are averages and manufacturer declarations. What is on your plate differs from them.
- Energy expenditure comes from your own input or from fitness trackers. Such devices typically overestimate it; the correction factor in the app is an approximation, not a measurement.
- The balance between intake and expenditure is therefore an estimate built on estimates.
Check the proposed values before you accept them, and correct them when you know better. You decide what ends up in your diary.
No medical or dietary advice
KIkal is not a medical device, not medical advice, not dietary counselling and not therapy. The app diagnoses nothing, treats nothing and replaces no professional. What the assistant answers is general information, not a recommendation tailored to you.
Seek medical or dietary advice before changing how you eat, in particular if you have a health condition (such as diabetes, kidney or heart disease, allergies and intolerances), during pregnancy and breastfeeding, while taking medication, for children and adolescents, and if you have or suspect an eating disorder. For health complaints turn to a professional, not to this app. In an emergency call the emergency services.
Decisions about your food, your weight and your health are yours, and you make them at your own responsibility.
Allergies and intolerances
KIkal is not a reliable source for ingredients, allergens or traces of them. For those questions rely solely on the information given by the manufacturer or the restaurant.
Your account
You need an account and are responsible for keeping it secure: choose a password of your own and do not share it. The details you give when registering must be accurate. An account is for one person; accounts for minors under 16 are not provided for. If you connect KIkal to an AI assistant over the MCP interface, you are responsible for whom you grant access to your account.
What is not allowed
- Misusing the AI features for purposes unrelated to tracking, in particular for unlawful content.
- Automated scraping, circumventing limits, attacking the service, or attempting to reach other people's accounts.
- Uploading content you do not hold the rights to, or personal data of others without their consent.
We may suspend or delete accounts that breach these rules or endanger the operation of the service.
Cost and usage limits
KIkal is free of charge at present. AI usage is capped per account, because every request costs money at a provider; once the allowance is used up, the AI features are unavailable until it resets. We may adjust these limits and introduce paid offerings in future. Existing features will not retroactively become chargeable without your consent.
Availability
We run KIkal with care but owe no particular level of availability. Maintenance, faults, outages at our service providers and further development can interrupt or change the service. We may change or discontinue features and shut the service down entirely; if we discontinue it, we will tell you in good time so that you can save your data.
Liability
We are liable for intent and gross negligence, and for personal injury, according to the statutory provisions. Beyond that our liability is excluded to the extent the law permits.
Excluded in particular is liability for:
- damage arising from your reliance on estimated nutritional values, calorie, protein or expenditure figures;
- health consequences of decisions about nutrition, weight or training that you made on the basis of the app;
- indirect and consequential damage, lost profit and loss of use;
- loss of data, unless caused by intent or gross negligence; keeping your own backups is your responsibility;
- interruptions and outages of the service.
For the conduct of service providers we engage, we are liable according to the statutory provisions. Those providers decide on their own services and terms, which is outside our control.
Your content
Your entries, photos, products and recipes are yours. You grant us only the right to store and process them as far as running the service requires, in particular for recognition by the AI. We do not sell your content and do not use it for advertising. Details are in the privacy policy.
Termination
You can delete your account at any time; your data is removed with it. We may end the relationship with reasonable notice, and immediately in case of serious breaches.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms, for instance when the service, the providers we use or the legal situation change. We will inform you about substantial changes, and you accept the new version when you next use the service. If you disagree, you can delete your account.
Governing law and place of jurisdiction
Swiss law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. The place of jurisdiction is the provider's registered seat, unless mandatory consumer-protection provisions require a different one.
Severability
If any provision of these terms is invalid, the remaining provisions stay in force. The invalid provision is replaced by what comes legally closest to its purpose.
